Expert Advisors can be installed on both MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5. To add an EA:

1. In the platform, open the "File" menu and click "Open Data Folder".
2. Open the "MQL4" folder if you are using MT4, or the "MQL5" folder if you are using MT5.
3. Open the "Experts" folder.
4. Drag and drop your EA file into that folder. MT4 files end in .ex4 or .mq4, and MT5 files end in .ex5 or .mq5.
5. Restart the platform. Your EA will appear in the Navigator panel, ready to drag onto a chart.

Please note that an EA built for MT4 will not run on MT5, and an EA built for MT5 will not run on MT4. EAs must be managed entirely by the client.
